Imagine yourself as a kid, and you are about to get your new piano to start your classes. How would you feel? Much exciting, right? Even if you are older and if the piano is something that you are planning to get for a long time, then it would be a moment of happiness as well. But all these excitements can turn into a mess if you get a terrible piano for yourself.

Buying a cheap instrument is not an option, especially for piano. Most people purchase the piano as a one-time investment, but some brands are producing the piano of unsatisfactory quality. To guide you on the right path to get a good piano in this article, we will tell you which Piano Brands to avoid.

Quality of an Ideal Piano

Ever wondered what makes a good quality piano? In this section, we will provide some valuable information that will give you the idea to find a good quality piano.

Build

Build of a piano is the first thing we observe. Good brands make their pianos with good quality wood for the frame. But other good brands use heavy-duty plastic.

But an ideal piano will always have a sturdy build and ensure durability and reliability.

Sound

Before buying a piano, if you are a learner, then familiarize yourself with the sound of the piano. The authentic sound of the piano is essential. If you know the sound of a real piano, then you would know how the original sound feels like. Ones you see the sound, then you can check the piano to find out if the piano successfully delivers the authentic sound of a real piano.

Sometimes digitally generated sound does not satisfy, but most high-end piano does have a very authentic sound. But that does not mean all the good brands have great sound; hence you have to find the best sound yourself. Because sometimes a not so famous branded piano may produce great sound.

Playability and comfort

Playability is a crucial factor in any piano. If you don’t feel comfortable and don’t find your piano providing smooth playability, then your learning process will slow down. When checking the sound, try to spend some time on the playability. Play every key and try to play some pieces and scales to find out how you feel about the piano you are about to buy.

See if the keys are hammer weighted and feel comfortable enough. Sometimes the actors are either too high or too low; in that case, you have to find out if the action is adjustable or not. And if the action is not adjustable, then find such an instrument where the action perfect for you.

Advanced features

For learners having advanced features like internal piano lessons, rhythm, and pieces to learn the piano are vital. Look for piano that also provides lessons online, video, or audio. Some piano comes with a recording system, which is also beneficial. You can record your composition and feel how it sounds.

Which piano brands to avoid?

In this article, we don’t intend to defame any brands or criticize their products. We intend to guide people to what is right. A brand may produce a model of piano that is not userfriendly.

But customers or buyers are not always aware of what they are buying. This is why we are just trying our best to guide piano enthusiasts with the right ideas by which they can find their instrument of choice.

We don’t want a music lover who wants to start their journey in the world of music to begin with a wrong instrument.

Every piano brand tries to provide the best, but they also think of the affordability of the potential buyers. For example, some brands manufacture ten models of the high-end piano, then again, they also producer one or two models that are low in cost. To reduce the price of a piano, manufacturers create models of piano that are not too satisfactory.

Again, some manufacturers make an affordable piano, and to optimize the price; sometimes, they optimize the quality. Maybe these brand intent to manufacture piano just for the beginners.

Aspects of a piano to avoid

Like we have already mentioned earlier, some piano models by reliable manufacturers may not be very satisfactory. Because reputed companies sometimes make one or two of their model at a very affordable rate for the beginners or to inspire people to get an instrument.

Some brand only makes low budget piano that is not up to the mark. Professional high-end digital pianos are expensive. If you are a beginner and you are just about to start your journey, then a low-cost piano can be sufficient for you.

If you want to avoid the piano that is not very satisfactory, then you can follow the instruction below.

Piano with low-end build

A low-cost piano may not have a very high-end build. Some piano manufacturers may reduce the cost of their product by using lower quality plastic for the frame.

Low quality plastic makes a piano light but less durable. A little beating up while traveling may cause it to break or parts to dispatch.

Avoid this type of piano if you are professional and require your instrument to be with you while traveling.

Uncomfortable plastic keys

The comfortable playability is highly dependent on the right quality keys. Some manufacturers use real ivory keys or plastic that replicates the quality of ivory keys. High-quality keys consist of features that make the keys non-slippery and weighted action keys.

On the contrary, some manufacturers use low-cost plastic for making piano keys. They are not weighted and cause to slip. These issues can make your learning process more challenging and also makes smooth performance difficult.

Unrealistic sound

Digital pianos are a digital replica of an acoustic piano. Some piano consists of an engine that produces the sound. But there is a low-cost piano that produces a very unrealistic sound that is similar to a toy piano. For professionals or beginners, all kinds of piano players should avoid bad sounding piano. Because when it comes to music, sound and tone cannot be compromised.

Final Words

Every reputed brand has one or two low-cost models of a piano that may not be as satisfactory as their other pianos. Similarly, an unpopular brand may come up with one or two models of pianos that are as good as a high-end piano. Hence it is very challenging to say which piano brands to avoid.

The main intention of this article is to guide you to find the best for yourself. Because there are learners for whom even a low-cost piano with not much satisfactory features is good enough.
